Visiting Lake City

What To Do

Norris Lake: This beautiful lake extends 56 miles up the Powell River and 72 miles up the Clinch River and is surrounded by the majestic mountains of East Tennessee. With 34,000 acres and 800 miles of shoreline, there always seems to be a secluded cove waiting for you. So whether you are fishing, camping, boating, or simply enjoying the picturesque shoreline, you are sure to be satisfied with the Lake and the many marinas, free launch facilities, restaurants, cabins, motels, houseboats and campgrounds. Coal Mining History:  Coal mining is one of the industries that rebuilt the South after the Civil War and it is what made an area in North Anderson County a booming city.  At the Coal Miners Museum and the Coal Creek Motor Discover Trail in Lake City, you can learn how this community abolished the convict lease system and survived two devastating mine disasters.  For more information, contact 865-426-7914.
